Denver Broncos Kicker Brandon McManus Named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month of October

Brandon McManus was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month of October.

It's been quite the career turnaround for Denver Broncos kicker Brandon McManus. Over the last 13 months, he's bounced from the active roster to the practice squad (and back).

But in training camp, he put Connor Barth in the dust, clearly out-performing him. And not just as a kickoff specialist. McManus has always had a big leg. Accuracy and pressure situations were his achilles heel.

He's managed to put it all together and it's translated to clutch kicking by the former Temple Owl. In the month of October, he went 10-of-11 on field goals and nailed each of his five extra points.

McManus also connected on two game-winning field goals—a 39-yarder in Week 4 and a 34-yarder in Cleveland in Week 6. He played a major role in the Broncos going 3-0 in the month of October.

This honor represents the first of McManus' young career and the ninth conference special teams player of the month award in Broncos team history.
