Denver Broncos Week 8 Injury Report: Ty Sambrailo Doubtful

After optimistic words by head coach Gary Kubiak earlier this week, Ty Sambrailo has been designated as 'doubtful' for Week 8.

Ty Sambrailo's week of practicing again didn't go as well as he and the team hoped it would. On Monday, head coach Gary Kubiak was optimistic that Sambrailo would be good to go in Week 8, after missing the last several weeks with a shoulder.

“Everybody took the full practice and Ty is full speed, so a big test coming for him this week when we put the pads on [for] our normal Thursday," Kubiak said Monday. "We're pretty much full speed back to work today.”

Now, the team is pumping the breaks on Sambrailo. Kubiak said today that the rookie tackle is doubful for the Denver Broncos Week 8 matchup vs. the Green Bay Packers.

“Here's the deal: He's had a full week of practice, he did practice today and took his reps," Kubiak said today. "We need to go back and really evaluate, as coaches, take a look at the week's work and see if we think he's ready to go, or does he need another week? That's where we are with it. We're going to go up there this afternoon and take a good look at it. He's had a good week, but I think that we have to be smart in our evaluations and that's what we're going to do.”

Is it possible he plays this week?

“Yeah," Kubiak said. "How does he feel coming out of practice today? There are a lot of things involved with it and it's a big decision how quickly we bring him back. That's where we are.”

Delaying Sambrailo's return could be a blessing in disguise, as the Broncos face a Packers defense ranked second with 23 sacks. The offensive line, as a group, seemed to improve and stabilze over the last couple games before the bye.

And Sambrailo was inconsistent in the Broncos first three games of the season.

If Sambrailo is a no-go, Ryan Harris will again start at left tackle, while Michael Schofield will remain on the right side, Kubiak confirmed today. Expect Sambrailo to be a game-time decision.
