The Denver Broncos have a busy offseason ahead with 16 soon-to-be unrestricted free agents, to go along with four restricted free agents and five exclusive rights players.
As the now defending Super Bowl Champions (get used to saying that), teams around the NFL are bound to have a high level of interest in poaching some of the Broncos free agent talent. One such player is quarterback Brock Osweiler.
Osweiler went 5-2 as a starter filling in for an injured Peyton Manning, finishing the season with far better numbers than the future Hall of Famer. Without Osweiler, the Broncos are not Super Bowl 50 Champions. This is not an opinion — it is a clear fact.
Brock will have no shortage of potential suitors once free agency opens — if the Broncos don’t lock him up by then. The Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams, New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles may all be in the market for a new starting QB and Osweiler would fill that need.
According to sources, Mile High Huddle has learned that the Broncos are in negotiations with Brock's camp, working towards a new contract. Retaining Osweiler is a top priority for the Broncos, and a new contract would make the Kalispell, MT native the unquestioned starter of the Denver Broncos moving forward.
Giving Osweiler a full offseason at the head of the team will be a huge step towards building offensive chemistry in a system that is tailor made for him. The young signal-caller showed plenty of promise in 2015 — in a very difficult situation.
Removing distractions will only help Brock Osweiler moving forward.
