Now, footage has leaked that appears to show Wolfe throw a punch at a Denver night club. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.
TMZ has the video and the original report.
Wolfe definitely swung HARD into the scrum, but it's unclear if he connected with anyone. Witnesses tell us Derek got hit in the face with a glass bottle, and left the club bloodied. Police were not called to the club.
Hopefully, this is where the story ends. If anyone was hurt by Wolfe's punch, this story could get ugly for him.
Last year, T.J. Ward was suspended for the first game because he was accused of throwing a bottle at a Denver nightclub, despite charges being dropped.
The NFL took action, after their own investigation and based on the personal conduct rules within the Collective Bargaining Agreement, codified following the 2011 lockout.
Wolfe had the best season of his career in 2015, despite missing the first four games. He became one of the league's most dominant 3-4 defensive ends and earned a lucrative in-season extension from the Broncos worth $36.7 million.
When you are a rich, famous athlete, you have a target on your back. Stay out of the club, Derek.
According to the Denver Post, at the moment, based on video and other evidence from the altercation, Wolfe is unlikely to receive league discipline.
However, the Broncos could choose internally to fine Wolfe, or impose some form of discipline behind closed doors.
