The Broncos found their fullback and a great special teams contributor in the sixth round.

The Denver Broncos hope they finally found a fullback that will stick. They selected Nebraska trucker Andy Janovich in the sixth round, after trading out of the fifth round.

Janovich, 6-foot-1, 238 pounds, is built like a tank. He was a walk-on at Nebraska and is coming off a productive career as a Cornhusker. Most draftniks had a seventh round grade on Janovich.

Some would argue that the Broncos reached a little to select Janovich, but ultimately, they got the guy they feel like fits their system and locker room culture best.

An added benefit? Janovich can contribute on special teams right away and make an impact. He notched 13 special teams tackles in 2015 as a senior and with the departure of former special teams captain David Bruton, the Broncos need all the help they can get there.

Here's a snippet from his NFL.com scouting report

Undersized H-back with the ability to give teams a carry here and there and do enough as a blocker to warrant consideration on the roster. Janovich was an extremely productive special teamer this season and if he can prove himself to be an adequate pass catcher, he could find his way onto a roster and get some snaps. Fullbacks and H-backs have limited draft value, but Janovich has a good shot at making a roster once he gets into camp

The Broncos experimented with the fullback position in 2015, signing guys like Joe Don Duncan and James Casey, but couldn't really fit it in to the Peyton Manning-oriented scheme. With Manning retired, Gary Kubiak will now look to fully install his offense, without having to make any deviations.

Whether you believe John Elway reached for Janovich or not, one thing's certain. The Denver Broncos got themselves a tough, physical, team-first player at a position of need.
