Insider's Take: A Closer Look At Denver Broncos Rookie Safety Will Parks

We sat down with Scout's Arizona Wildcats Publisher Jason Scheer to get the insider's take on new Broncos safety Will Parks.

After selecting Justin Simmons in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos doubled down on the safety position, grabbing Arizona Wildcats safety Will Parks in the sixth.

Parks is long (6-foot-1) and he hits like a freight train. GM John Elway offered a brief review when he announced the Parks pick on Twitter.

To get some deeper insight, Mile High Huddle sat down with Jason Scheer, Publisher of Scout.com's Arizona Wildcats page "Wildcat Authority".

Scheer covered Parks' entire career at Arizona. There's nobody better equipped to offer insight into the person and the player Will Parks is.

MHH: Character-wise, what kind of player are the Broncos getting in Will Parks?

ScheerWill Parks is one of my favorite guys that I have ever covered. He is honest, has no issues dealing with media, and plays his tail off. He is a fan favorite here in Tucson and that took off even more when he was asked to reflect on his career at Arizona and broke down during the last weekly presser.

MHH: As a player, what can Broncos fans expect to see out of Parks?

ScheerIn terms of his playing skills, I think Denver fans will love him. Again, he always plays hard. You never have to worry about him taking a play off. He sometimes struggles in coverage, but his athleticism helps him make up ground.

He is really smart and recognizes offenses well, but his biggest issue in coverage is that he just doesn't always have the speed over the top. I think his strength is in rushing the passer and stopping the run.

Guys like Parks are fan favorites because they hit hard, engage with fans, and always give their effort. As you can tell, I am really high on him as a player and even higher on him as a person.
