Von Miller Says He Will Be A Denver Bronco For Life

Von Miller weighed in on the status of his contract negotiations—sort of.

After leading the Denver Broncos to an underdog victory in Super Bowl 50, the MVP of that game—one Von Miller—has had a busy offseason.

He's spent the last several weeks as a contestant on 'Dancing With The Stars', but only just recently was voted off the show. The Broncos began their offseason training program—the voluntary portion—but Miller has chosen not to attend.

Now, he's turned his attention back toward the Mile High City, appearing before fans at his 'Chalk Talk' Q&A event. Speaking publicly, he addressed the fans' biggest and most immediate concerns.

In his pre-draft presser, GM John Elway told us that the Broncos had made one long-term contract offer to Miller and received one counter offer back. Elway, however, iterated that with all the pre-draft preparation, he hadn't the time to devote to the Miller negotiations.

Now, with the draft in the books, Elway can turn his attention to the Miller conundrum. And Miller, who's been busy enjoying his Super Bowl 50 MVP celebrity, can also focus on it, now that he's off 'DWTS'.

This sentiment makes sense. For all the bluster and posturing that sometimes takes place in these type of negotiations, Elway knows how valuable Miller is to the organization, especially after the face of the franchise retired, and the presumptive heir defected to Houston.

Miller was Elway's first draft pick as the VP of Football Operations and the foundation of his roster. Miller wants to be the highest-paid defensive player in the league and after what we saw him do to Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers, I think it's fair to say that he deserves it.

Currently, Miami defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is the highest-paid defender, making a little over $19 million per year. If the Broncos can exceed that, and I'm sure they will, even by just a smidge, Von Miller will happily sign—provided the guaranteed dollars are right.

For now, rest easy. Von Miller wants to remain a Bronco and John Elway agrees. The contract won't likely be resolved until the 11th hour. The deadline is July 15th. Expect some action then.
