Denver Broncos Waive Fullback Toben Opurum After Just Two Days

The Broncos made a surprising roster move Thursday.

Thursday, the Denver Broncos waived fullback Toben Opurum with a failed-physical designation, after the team had been awarded the former Kansas Jayhawk off waivers Tuesday.

It's likely Opurum had an injury the team was either not aware of, or didn't realize the extent of. For what it's worth, Opurum still sounds hopeful that he can return to the Mile High City.

The Broncos drafted a fullback in the sixth round—Andy Janovich.  Gary Kubiak is going to run his true system, which includes a fullback, now that Peyton Manning has retired.

The hope was that Opurum could compete with and push the rookie Janovich. But for now, it sounds like the Broncos will have to look elsewhere for additional fullback help.
