No Surprise That Peyton Manning Is 'Pulling' For Brock Osweiler To Succeed In Houston

Peyton Manning will be keeping an eye on Brock Osweiler in Houston.

While it’s safe to assume that the majority of Denver Broncos fans may not share his sentiment, Peyton Manning has made it clear that he’ll be rooting for Brock Osweiler to do well in Houston.

The Broncos and their fans were stunned when Osweiler jumped ship and left for Houston in free agency, but it comes as no surprise that Manning took the high road when speaking about his former teammate at the Manning Passing Academy.

“I’ll be pulling for Brock,” Manning said earlier today. “I know he’s going to have a great year.”

Osweiler temporarily left the Broncos in the quarterback wilderness this past March when he turned down a deal to stay with Denver in favor of the Texans’ offer of $72 million over four years, including $37 million guaranteed.

For four years, Manning and Osweiler shared a quarterback room in Denver.  Little controversy swirled while Manning broke records and earned honors over his first three years with the Broncos, but the quarterback flip-flopping that took place in 2015 caused speculation of awkwardness between the two passers.

Manning has always said the right thing when asked tough questions, but there really is no reason for him not to mean what he said.  He may have been pulled in favor of Brock during a train wreck of a performance against the Kansas City Chiefs, but the seven subsequent Osweiler starts gave Manning a chance to rehab his foot in preparation of a Super Bowl run.

Although Osweiler has yet to respond to Manning’s comments, keep in mind that Brock is very busy with OTAs.
