Derek Wolfe Leaves Practice With Leg Injury

Derek Wolfe left practice Wednesday with a leg injury.

The Denver Broncos are hosting the San Francisco 49ers this week at Dove Valley leading up to their preseason match up at Sports Authority Field.

In the first joint practice, just a few days after defensive end Vance Walker tore his ACL, Broncos DE Derek Wolfe came up hobbled, requiring assistance off the field. The injury sustained was to his leg. Wolfe did appear to be putting weight on both legs as he was helped to the locker room.

"He rolled his ankle. We'll get it looked at here at lunch," - Coach Kubiak

After losing Walker, who was having a breakout training camp with the team, the Broncos can ill afford to lose Wolfe, who is the team's best player on the defensive line and it would appear that Wolfe has escaped serious injury.

UPDATE: The word out of Dove Valley is that Derek Wolfe "rolled" his ankle. He'll miss the 49ers preseason game but will otherwise return to action. Bullet dodged.

He rolled his ankle, so we'll get it looked at here after lunch," Gary Kubiak said after Wednesday's practice. "I was on the other field, so I didn't watch the play. My understanding is that he rolled his ankle.”
