Denver Broncos Sign Veteran QB Austin Davis

The Broncos have switched out Mark Sanchez for Austin Davis.

Just moments after letting go of Mark Sanchez, the Broncos have added quarterback Austin Davis to take his spot. According to the team, Davis' contract is for one year.

During a press conference today, John Elway confirmed that the Broncos would add a third passer. He wouldn't disclose exactly who that player was, but it is now evident that Davis was their man all along.

http://www.scout.com/nfl/broncos/story/1681565-5-reasons-you-should-go-p...Davis, who played his college football at Southern Mississippi, spent 2015 and part of the 2016 preseason with the Cleveland Browns after finding relative success filling in for the injured Sam Bradford with the 2014 St. Louis Rams. He threw for 12 touchdowns, nine interceptions, and over 2,000 yards in that 2014 campaign.

Over the course of his entire career, Davis has gone 3-7, totaling 13 touchdowns to 12 picks. Those aren't particularly impressive numbers, but it's worth keeping in mind that Davis has been forced into treacherous situations with lacking talent on offense with both the Browns and the Rams.

Joining the Broncos as a fifth-year Veteran, Davis now will become Denver's most experienced and oldest quarterback by a long shot. While he is expected to serve as the third quarterback on the depth chart, he will likely assume a role as mentor for rookie Paxton Lynch along with the safety net he provides at the position.
