Report: DeMarcus Ware 'Unlikely' To Return In Week 7 vs. Houston

Pump the brakes on your expectations for DeMarcus Ware's Week 7 availability.

DeMarcus Ware has missed the Denver Broncos last four games, after he fractured his forearm in Week 2 vs. Indianapolis. Shortly after the injury, he underwent surgery on his arm.

Ahead of his recent checkup, Ware was hopeful his prognosis would be good enough to suit up for his team's Week 7 tilt with the Houston Texans. Unfortunately, according to Denver 7's Troy Renck, Ware is "unlikely" to play.

"I can't rush it," Ware said. "I want to be out there (which will feature him wearing a carbon fiber protective brace). But I also know it has to be right. Even if I miss this game, I would still have nine left so I have to be smart."

The Broncos have continued to get after the quarterback in Ware's absence. They currently lead the NFL with 21 sacks through six games. They might not be missing Ware's physical ability, but one thing Denver's two-game skid has taught us is that they are missing his veteran leadership on the field. However, the team will have to continue to be patient as Ware works back to full health.

The Broncos fully expect to be relevant down the stretch and into the playoffs. They'll need their team captain then, much more than they necessarily do now.
