Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib Gets Second Opinion on Back Injury

The playmaking corner's status for Sunday night is up in the air.

With perhaps the biggest game of the season to this point just a few days away, the Denver Broncos are holding their collective breath on the availability of one of their biggest playmakers on defense.

Aqib Talib, who sat out last week's victory against the San Diego Chargers with a back injury, was not present at practice today. In fact, he wasn't even in the state of Colorado. “Aqib is not here today," Head Coach Gary Kubiak said. "We sent him to California to get a second opinion and [he] is on his way back as we speak so he’ll be evaluated when he gets back tonight. We spoke to the people in California and we’ll see where we’re at tomorrow, but it’s a day-to-day situation and we just thought it would be best to get another opinion on it.”

Of course, the Broncos as a whole will be in California in just a couple days when they travel to the East Bay to challenge the 6-2 Oakland Raiders. Don't count out Talib out quite yet, though.

"We’ll see where we’re at tomorrow and actually I have good vibes from what Greek told me on the field from the visit, but I know that there are some people that have to get together and talk this through and make sure we exactly know where he’s at," Kubiak added. "He’s on his way back as we speak.”

The presence of Talib would be a major factor the Broncos defense against Oakland's fifth-ranked passing offense. Talib, Chris Harris, and Bradley Roby would be a sufficient answer for the trio of Michael CrabtreeAmari Cooper, and Seth Roberts.
