Denver Broncos Reportedly Interested In Seattle OC Darrell Bevell

Add another young name to the Broncos coaching search.

We know that John Elway is focused on finding young and bright candidates to fill the Denver Broncos head coaching vacancy. Elway talked about being hopeful to land an up-and-comer. We know the Broncos plan to interview Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. Both guys are under 45.

According to ESPN's Jeff Legwold, the Broncos are also expected to have interest in Seattle Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell. Bevell, 46, has been an OC in the NFL for the past 11 seasons.

He spent five seasons as the Minnesota Vikings OC (2006-10) and has been Seattle's since 2011. Bevell is most famous (infamous?) for his decision to call a pass play on the goal line in Super Bowl XLIX.

Russell Wilson slant pass intended for Ricardo Lockette was intercepted in the New England Patriots endzone by Malcolm Butler, preserving Bill Belichick's fourth Lombardi Trophy.

Although Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll fell on the proverbial sword, Bevell took intense heat by the media and the fanbase for choosing to pass that close to pay-dirt, rather than rushing the ball with Mr. Beast Mode himself, Marshawn Lynch

As a candidate, Bevell certainly fits the "young, bright" ideal Elway spoke to. He's relatively young for an NFL head coaching candidate. And although Seattle has struggled along their offensive line for nigh on two seasons, he has still found a way to get points and production out of his unit.

At this time, the Broncos are yet to reach out to Seattle to request permission to interview Bevell. We'll keep you advised. Be sure to stay updated on the Broncos search with our Head Coaching Hot Board
