Denver Broncos Reportedly Interested In Washington OC Sean McVay

The Broncos are going really young with the next guy they reportedly have interest in filling their head coaching vacancy.

If John Elway wants a young coach to succeed Gary Kubiak, you can't get much closer to the cradle than Sean McVay. The 30-year-old offensive coordinator of the Washington Redskins is drawing interest around the league, and the Denver Broncos are reportedly in on it.

McVay, a former collegiate wide receiver at the University of Miami (OH), got his first coaching opportunity in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008 as an assistant WR coach. Over the last nine years, he's parlayed his experience into becoming one of the most vibrant young offensive minds in the NFL.

McVay worked under Mike and Kyle Shanahan as Washington's tight ends coach (2011-13), before being promoted to OC by new head coach Jay Gruden in 2014, where he's remained. After the failed Robert Griffin III experiment, McVay was key in developing Kirk Cousins, whom the Redskins franchise tagged this past season.

McVay's offense finished No. 3 in the NFL in total yards in 2016. He knows how to move the football, especially through the air.

However, if the Broncos are looking to revitalize the rushing attack, McVay's units have finished in the middle of the pack over the last three years. His experience under the Shanahans, however, could help Denver maintain consistency on offense, especially with the nomenclature.

With the Redskins eliminated from playoff contention, McVay would be available to interview, but at this time, there's been no official word that the Broncos have requested permission.
