Report: Los Angeles Rams Sign Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips

Wade Phillips will not return to the Broncos.

All good things come to an end. And so has Wade Phillips' phenomenal tenure as the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos

This is an eventuality we've been trying to prepare you for since late December. The Los Angeles Rams moved quickly on Phillips, after hiring former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay as Head Coach, who worked with Phillips' son, Wes.

The Rams likely offered Phillips a contract he couldn't refuse and after the Broncos apparent disinterest in re-signing him, Son of Bum moved on. Phillips leaves the Mile High City one year removed from coordinating the NFL's No. 1 defense to a World Championship. His sense of humor and depth of knowledge will be missed. It will be interesting to see how the Broncos defensive players react to the news.

One guy who could assuage their anxiety is defensive backs coach Joe Woods, whom the Broncos seem to be zeroing in on to replace Phillips under new Head Coach Vance Joseph

Happy trails, Wade!
