Character

Good

Pros

Smart, with high football IQ. Extremely aware. Is capable of pulling, and can do well when pulling. Has good punch in pass protection.

Does well going from first to second block. Tall, with good frame and solid athletically. Experienced at left and right tackle, as well as guard. Works decently in space.

Cons

Is he too tall? Defenders get under him with ease. Doesn’t have an anchor. Bad footwork and technique.

Wide set allows defenders into his core. Pad level is an issue due to his height. Doesn’t pop on contact, nor drive through blocks.

Overview

Dan Skipper has eye-popping size and the intelligence and football IQ to be good. However, his size works against him far too often.

He doesn’t have much to work with as a blocker. Skipper will impress on the whiteboard, where he can show his football IQ. He might not have a long playing career, but coaching should be considered.

Fit With The Broncos

I like Dan Skipper, as a coach. I think he has the IQ and all the off-field intangibles you want in a player, but not the natural talent to last in the NFL.

The Denver Broncos need players they can grow into depth and potential starters and Skipper doesn’t offer that.

Draft Grade: Round 7

Where He Goes: Round 4 (size will get him drafted higher)

Insider's Take: Per source, some have suggested coaching to Skipper and he came off like he had that desire, but after he attempted a playing career.
