Denver Broncos Sign Rookie First-Rounder Garett Bolles To Four-Year Deal

The Broncos have inked their 2017 first round pick — offensive tackle Garett Bolles.

With a stroke of a pen, Garett Bolles has become a multi-millionaire. Utah's version of The Blind Side was selected with the 20th pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos

The Broncos are kicking off their rookie mini-camp on Thursday and have signed Bolles to a four-year deal, worth $11 million. The contract is based on the rookie scale in the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement, which doesn't leave much room for the players to negotiate.

Still, Bolles has inked his deal and will immediately receive a $6 million signing bonus, according to Mike Klis of 9NEWS. The Broncos drafted Bolles with the expectation of him being their starting left tackle when the season kicks off on September 11.

In the meantime, Bolles will learn and compete with his fellow rookies/. For the next three days, Denver will hold their rookie mini-camp. The team will open Phase 3 of their Offeason Training Program on May 23, which is when Bolles will get to interact with the veterans on the field for the first time.

Although the Broncos have high expectations for Bolles, he will not be handed the job. He'll have to earn it and justify himself over veterans like Ty Sambrailo and Donald Stephenson

With Bolles' natural athleticism, competitive spirit and desire to improve, I have little doubt that when the dust settles, he will in fact be Denver's starting left tackle. The team hopes that will be the case for the next decade.
