Kanell back on squad

The Denver Broncos Wednesday waived cornerback Roosevelt Williams and added quarterback Danny Kanell. In addition, the team waived fullback Kyle Johnson from the practice squad and added cornerback Brandon Williams.

Kanell, 29, signed with the Broncos on June 3 after being out of football for the past two seasons, but was released on Sept. 1.

Roosevelt Williams, 25, signed with the Broncos Sept. 1 after being waived by Chicago in the final cutdown of training camp.

Brandon Williams, 22, returns to the Broncos practice squad after being released by the team on Sept. 3. Signed as a rookie free agent on May 16, he was waived during training camp (8/26), and later was signed to Denver's practice squad on Sept. 3, but spent only one week with the team.

Johnson, 22, was with the Broncos in training camp but was waived in the first cutdown on Aug. 26. The 6-0, 242-pound fullback came to Denver as a free agent on Dec. 11, 2002 from Detroit's practice squad, but was inactive for Denver's final three games.
