Griese named AFC Offensive Player of the Month

Broncos QB Brian Griese has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month, the NFL announced on Thursday

Englewood, Colo.-Quarterback Brian Griese of the Denver Broncos is the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September, the NFL announced today. It is his first such honor after winning Player of the Week honors for the second time in his career in Week 1 of this season.

Griese completed 60 of 93 passes (64.5%) for 763 yards, seven touchdowns and only two interceptions in leading Denver to a 2-1 mark, tied for the second-best record in the conference. His quarterback rating of 106.2 is tops in the AFC and fourth in the NFL. His three touchdown passes against the Giants in week one matched a career single-game high.

This is Denver's 13th Player of the Month honor and their third consecutive honor on offense, with Mike Anderson (December 2000) and Rod Smith (November 2000) earning the previous awards. Broncos previous winners:
