  • Arizona Cardinals rookie OL Nick Leckey is unable to participate in rookie workouts until his school year is over. In addition rookie LB Karlos Dansby (groin) worked out at the team's rookie camp Monday, May 17, after sitting out most of the previous minicamp with a groin injury.
  • Atlanta Falcons have officially waived LB J.R. Johnson and RB Dee Brown. In addition the team has signed rookie free agent QB Bill Whittemore (Kansas), rookie free agent WR Chris Curd (Pittsburgh) and rookie free agent RB Zack Abron (Missouri). Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
  • Cincinnati Bengals starting QB Carson Palmer took about 65 percent of the team's offensive snaps during practice Tuesday, May 18, while QB Jon Kitna and rookie Casey Bramlet received the rest of the practice reps.
  • Cincinnati Bengals have signed undrafted rookie free agent WR Jay Chapman (St. Augustine, N.C.) to a one-year contract. Financial terms were undisclosed.
  • Green Bay Packers are scheduled to be meeting with free agent QB Kerry Collins (Giants) on Tuesday, May 18.
  • Indianapolis Colts CB Joseph Jefferson missed practice Monday, May 17, to be with his wife, who was in labor delivering the couple's first child.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars 2004 first-round selection, WR Reggie Williams, was absent from practice Tuesday, May 18, and will miss all but the final week of passing camp due to the NFL rule that forbids rookies to participate in team practices (other than minicamp) before their college class graduates.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars QB David Garrard (abdomen), who sat out practice Tuesday, May 18, may need to undergo surgery to assist in his treatment of Crohn's disease, an incurable intestinal disorder.
  • Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams refused to discuss whether he was in violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy on Tuesday, May 18. "No one in the NFL can talk about anything regarding the substance-abuse program," Williams said. "League-wide, it's a confidentiality thing."
  • Pittsburgh Steelers WR Plaxico Burress did not attend the team's offseason voluntary workouts Tuesday, May 18.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers have signed rookie C/LS Drew Caylor to a three-year deal with a signing bonus of $56,000. Caylor, one of the Steelers' two 2004 sixth-round draft picks, will receive annual minimum base salaries of $230,000 (2004), $305,000 (2005) and $385,000 (2006).
  • San Diego Chargers have held out DE Adrian Dingle (knee), RB LaDainian Tomlinson, OG Toniu Fonoti and OLT Courtney Van Buren (knee) from drills at the team's voluntary workouts this week. In addition OL Phil Bogle, who recently had arthroscopic knee surgery, is expected to be sidelined at least two weeks.
