Game of Fame Postponed

Recent weather problems force the postponement of the "Game of Fame" flag football contest, featuring John Elway and Joe Montana.

The weather disrupted more than just the Denver Broncos practice sessions on Thursday, it also forced a postponement of Friday night's "Game of Fame" flag football contest.

The match up, which features John Elway and a group of former Bronco players against an NFL all-star team led by former San Francisco Forty-Niners quarterback Joe Montana, will now be played on Oct. 1, at Invesco Field.

Marty Garafalo, who was promoting the game for locally based entertainment company Dream Events, told the Denver Post that he decided to seek the postponement "in the middle of the monsoon" Wednesday night. "We had guys coming from the West Coast who couldn't get in," he said. "When those calls start coming in, you start looking at worst-case scenarios.

Garafalo said that the rosters for both teams should remain virtually the same.

Fans who had purchased tickets for the event have the option of requesting a refund for the tickets, or  using the tickets on the rescheduled date.
