Game Notes:
Danny Kanell and Tatum Bell start in the backfield for the Broncos as they take the opening kickoff and promptly go three and out on their initial drive. Arizona rebounds as Cardinals punt returner Carl WIlliams take the punt 50-yards, setting up the Arizona offense on Denver's 31-yard line. The Cardinals fail to move the ball on their initial possession and settle for a Neil Rackers field goal giving the Cardinals an early 3-0 lead.

The Broncos second possession improves slightly as Kanell hits Charlie Adams for a 15-yard gain setting the ball at the 35-yard line. Although they gain one first down during the drive they fail to advance any further and are forced to punt. Special teams make their second mistake of the contest as Micah Knorr's punt is blocked by Josh Scobey and Arizona takes over on the Broncos 47-yard line.

Once again the Broncos defense comes up big but the Cardinals, thanks to great field position, capitalize with Neil Racker's second field goal of the game to take a 6-0 lead.

The Broncos offense continues to struggle. Tight end Patrick Hape suffers a pinched nerve in his neck and will probably not return to the game.

Neither team scores for the remainder of the quarter and Arizona maintains a 6-0 lead. END 1ST QUARTER

The Cardinals continue their offensive drive with a 12-play, 77-yard drive as Josh Scobey runs it in from the one-yard line to give Arizona a 13-0 second quarter lead.

Matt Mauck replaces Danny Kanell as the Broncos quarterback but the team cannot mount anything offensively. Mauck leads Denver to a three and out series giving way to another Micah Knorr punt, which gives Arizona field position on their own 29-yard line.

Arizona fails to move the ball and the Cardinals are forced to punt. Denver takes over on their own 18-yard line.

Although their drive once again fails, rookie Tatum Bell breaks out an impressive 12-yard gain showing that the young running back does have potential for playing in the NFL. Denver is forced to punt and Micah Knorr punts 51-yards to the Cardinals 22-yard line.

After a stalled out Arizona drive, Denver takes possession on their own 14-yard line. On their next play from scrimmage quarterback Matt Mauck fumbles the ball and Cardinals defensive lineman Ross Kolodziej recovers in the Broncos end zone, giving Arizona their second touchdown of the game and a commanding 20-0 second quarter lead.

Denver regains possession on their own 20-yard line following a Cardinals punt, and installs the two-minute offense with Mauck at the controls. The rookie quarterback drives the team up to the Arizona 39-yard line where Mauck fumbles for the second time, and the Cardinals once again have great field position with forty-two seconds remaining in the first half.

Arizona adds to the domination with a 57-yard Rackers field goal as time expires in the first half. The Cardinals hold a 23-0 lead. END 2ND QUARTER
