Legwold: Replay foes know how to block - Rocky Mountain News - Jeff Legwold
March 25, 2005 - They are three dirty little words to some NFL coaches. Down . . . by . . . contact. You know the play. A defender knocks the ball free, it's recovered by the defense, then an official comes in, blowing his whistle, waving his arms, pointing at the ground. The ballcarrier is ruled down by contact. No fumble. No recovery. And, most troubling to some coaches, there is no way to challenge the ruling with replay because it is not listed among the plays that can be reviewed.
