Broncos Re-sign Sam Brandon

The Denver Broncos have re-signed restricted free-agent safety Sam Brandon. Brandon, 6-2, 200 pounds, enters his fourth NFL season with the Broncos

Brandon was selected in the fourth round (131st overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft. Brandon has played 41 career regular-season games (12 starts), totaling 75 tackles (60 solo), one interception (0 yds.), eight pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also has posted 28 career tackles on special teams along with one blocked punt.

The 25-year-old Brandon played nine games (0 starts) in 2004 mostly on special teams, where he made 11 tackles to rank third on the Broncos. He started 10 games at free safety in 2003 and recorded 57 tackles (44 solo), one interception and six pass breakups.

Brandon was a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection as a senior at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, after totaling a team-high 99 tackles (61 solo). A three-year letterman in football at John W. North High School in Riverside, Calif., Samuel Terrill Brandon was born July 5, 1979, in Toledo, Ohio.
