Head Coach Mike Shanahan
On tackle Matt Lepsis' injury suffered during Wednesday's practices
"He got nicked yesterday right at the end of practice in the red zone. He strained a hamstring. He won't play Saturday, but I don't think it's too serious. We'll just wait and see."
On whether cornerback Champ Bailey and wide receiver Jerry Rice are healthy enough to play against Houston on Saturday
"I'll have to take a look at film on Champ. I haven't talked to any of the coaches yet. Jerry's fine. Jerry practiced yesterday. He practiced today. Jerry should be ready to go."
On running back Mike Anderson
"He was old starting out (his career) if you remember. He was a 26-year old rookie, or 25. He's not as quite as old as he appears to be."
On the productivity of the three practices in Houston
"It really has been productive. I think it's been productive for both teams. I know it's been productive for us. We've had some good work against a different type of defensive system. Obviously, it's a different type of passing game. So I think it's really benefited both sides, and we've got some work in on special teams as well. It's been a good trip for us."
On getting to evaluate the players in a game situation on Saturday against the Texans, particularly the running backs
"It's everybody, not just running backs. We've got a lot of guys fighting for positions and backup positions. That's what preseason is all about… to see how they operate in game situations, and hopefully they play well."
On how long the Broncos' starters will play against the Texans
"We'll probably do what we typically do – anywhere from 10 to 12 plays the first game and about 20 plays the second game. In the third game, we'll play them in the third quarter one series or two. And in the fourth game, a lot of the starters don't play that have obviously earned a position or have been starters for a while. Guys who are competing for a position usually play, and that will be based on competition at certain positions."
