Broncos cut Griffin, keep Rice

Jerry Rice is in, Quentin Griffin is out as the Denver Broncos pared their roster to the NFL maximum on Saturday.

The Broncos waived a total of 19 players on Saturday.

The transactions reduced the Broncos' roster to the NFL maximum 53-man limit. Denver will begin the process of selecting players for its eight-man practice squad on Sunday.

Linebackers Jashon Sykes, formerly of the University of Colorado, and Terry Pierce as well as quarterback Matt Mauck and defensive linemen Anton Palepoi, Mario Fatafehi, and Dorsett Davis were among the notables who got their walking papers. The Broncos kept six receivers on the roster including Jerry Rice and a couple of players who had big nights on Saturday - Todd Devoe and Charlie Adams.
