Final Cutdown

Final cutdown comes for the Broncos as 19 players are released

DENVER, Colo.- Final cutdown for the Denver Broncos came with very few surprises, the most notable however being tight end Desmond Clark, the teams' second leading pass catcher last season.

Clark, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, would have weighed in with a $1.227 million base salary, had Denver decided to carry him, yet would have been unavailable till after the fifth game of the season due to a broken forearm suffered midway through training camp.

His release elevates sixth round draft pick Jeb Putzier, a former standout Boise State who performed remarkably well during last month's camp.

The status of WR Frank Rice, a former Colorado State Ram, may change if Denver is able to work out a trade with the Green Bay Packers. The Broncos are reportedly asking for a sixth or seventh round draft pick as compensation.
