"We picked defensive end Tim Crowder because we are obviously trying to address our needs. We were hoping Tim might be there with our pick, and we felt very fortunate that he was. This is a guy that has a big upside that has started for a number of years. I am very happy with the pick."
"Ryan Harris is an offensive tackle from Notre Dame. He has started for a number of years and we were hoping he was going to be there with the third pick. We felt like we needed some depth with our offense with Matt (Lepsis) coming off of surgery and Adam Meadows as well. Hopefully that will work out for us."
On where Harris may play
"I think he is a guy that can play any position, tackle or guard. He is 6-foot-4 1/2, over 300 pounds and we feel like he has good quickness running in the five-flat range at the combine. We feel like he can play and he has long arms so he can play either tackle or guard."
On drafting two defensive ends
"Both guys we believe have good pass rushing ability. An as I said before, we will drill them to play the run the way we want and it may be a little bit different. They are athletes, they are fast running in the 4.7-range (40-yard dash) or below. When you get guys that size that can run, hopefully we can put some pressure on the quarterback and that is our intention."
On where Crowder may play
"He could play either side. He has the flexibility and he is athletic enough to play either side. Depending on if we want to flip-flop our ends, we think he could play both sides."
On selecting three players from major college football programs
"We are looking at football players on film. If you look at our past, it doesn't really matter what program our guys are in. If you can play, you can play, especially when they go to the bowl games and there is different competition. It just so happens that these guys that we picked have been in big-time programs."
On if he addressed the Broncos' needs in the first day of the draft
"You only have so many draft picks, so after the draft you go to free agency. In July, you go and try to upgrade the depth of your football team, but today we were very happy addressing the defensive end position."
On the possibility of trading up during the second day of the draft
"It depends on who is there. There is a possibility if there are people there that we want. If they are not there, than we will just wait until that sixth and seventh round and try to get a handful of free agents like we do every year. There are always guys that are missed in the draft like (T) Matt Lepsis and (WR) Rod Smith. Every once in a while, people get overlooked. We will wait until after the draft and probably sign a few guys then as well."
