The police report stated Kircus was at a party in the early hours of May 20 when he and a female friend he was with had an argument. The homeowner asked him to leave, and that argument continued outside. The report said Kircus punched the man and left.
Kircus was excused on the first day of an offseason minicamp to go to the police. He was arrested, and later released on $6,000 bond.
Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said he would be strict with Kircus if he was found to be at fault.
"Obviously, if he didn't handle himself the right way, he won't be with us," Shanahan said.
However, Shanahan said he heard a different side of the story from Kircus, and wanted to let the legal system run its course before he made any final judgment.
"You don't know if a guy's defending himself or if a guy punches you or throws a punch and does hit you," Shanahan said. "There's different stories going on right now."
Kircus had nine catches for 187 yards last season, his first with the Broncos. He has a tough challenge making the roster again, considering the team added Brandon Stokley as a free agent and are impressed with Domenik Hixon, who missed all of his rookie season last year with a foot injury.
Kircus' teammates didn't want to say much without knowing exactly what happened.
"I'm not sure what happened, so I don't think it's fair for him or fair to this ball club to say anything because I wasn't there," tight end Stephen Alexander said.
--Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall had domestic violence charges against him dropped. Marshall was arrested in April following an incident in which he had an argument with his girlfriend, then tried to block her from leaving his apartment complex in a taxi by parking his car in front of it.
"We're relieved the charges were dismissed," Marshall's lawyer Harvey Steinberg said.
--The Broncos suffered their first injury of the offseason when promising second-year tight end Tony Scheffler broke his foot in a minicamp practice. Scheffler's recovery time is two months, which means he should be fine by training camp.
"He does have plenty of time to heal up," Shanahan said. "Hopefully he will. We're expecting a lot out of him."
--The Broncos held a quarterback camp that included seven practices. They come back right away with a team camp, which goes for two weeks. The Broncos don't hold their mandatory veteran minicamp until July.
