Bump costs O'Neal $15,000

Bumping an NFL official has it's cost, and Thursday Deltha O'Neal found out exactly what that price was.

DENVER, Colo.. - Deltha O'Neal's temporary laps in judgement proved costly not only to the team, but to the safeties bank account as well.

On Thursday the NFL informed O'Neal that the penalty for bumping head linesman Tom Stabile would cost the third-year veteran a cool $15,000, the largest fine levied against a Bronco player this season.

O'Neal, who apologized to Stabile, still maintains that the pass interference call was incorrect and that the actual bump was initiated by Stabile, who tried to bump him away.

Either way it's water under the bridge, or a situation that the team, and head coach Mike Shanahan would just as soon forget.

"Sometimes you're going to get some plays go against you and you're totally right," Mike Shanahan told O'Neal. "Other times we're going to get some breaks when you should have gotten a penalty. That doesn't matter. You've got to keep your poise."

"Hopefully, it won't happen again."

O'Neal and the Broncos will look to keep their poise this weekend when they face the undefeated San Diego Chargers at Invesco Field.
