Wow - leave it to Al Davis to overpay for damaged goods. Sources have confirmed that former Broncos receiver Javon Walker has come to terms with Oakland on a six-year, $55 million deal with $16 million in guarantees.

$55 million?

Two weeks ago Denver was willing to take anybody short of the waterboy for Walker and didn't get as much as a nibble around the league. Now Davis breaks the bank on fifty-five large for a guy that may not even pass the physical.

… Former Lions linebacker Boss Bailey, younger brother of cornerback Champ Bailey, will spend the next few days at Dove Valley, trying to iron out a contract to take over at strong side linebacker. Indications are a deal is close to being finalized.

… The search for a safety will be addressed with former charger Marlin McCree visiting on Wednesday. McCree is said to have narrowed down his options to Buffalo and Denver.

… Former Broncos tight end Jeb Putzier, who was released by the Houston Texans, agreed to a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks and believe it or not - terms of the deal were not disclosed.

… More from the 'Where Are They Now' file, DT Jimmy Kennedy, who spent last season's training camp in Denver before he was released during final cuts, has been picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars, after being released by the Chicago Bears.

… After a rather stern letter from Mike Shanahan's attorney, Yahoo Sports has printed a retractment from a story published last September alleging that Shanahan had secretly videotaped a San Diego Chargers practice in the late 1990's.

"We took immediate action to eliminate the content from our site as soon as we became aware of this matter," a note for the editor said.
