Unit-By-Unit Analysis - QBs and RBs

Take an early look at the quarterbacks and running backs on the Denver Broncos' roster.

QUARTERBACKS: Starter -- Jay Cutler. Backups -- Patrick Ramsey, Darrell Hackney.

In camp, the coaches will work on all aspects of Cutler's game as he enters his third season. Cutler has always been fast picking up the nuances of the offense and should take another big step this season. Ramsey is entrenched as the backup. The Broncos don't often carry three quarterbacks, so there will be some pressure on Hackney to perform.

RUNNING BACKS: Starters -- RB Selvin Young, FB Cecil Sapp. Backups -- Michael Pittman, Andre Hall, Ryan Torain, Anthony Alridge, FB Mike Bell, FB Peyton Hillis.

Young enters training camp as the starter, but Pittman, Hall and Torain won't concede that he will be the featured back on opening day. The competition at tailback should be strong, but as long as Young performs as he is capable, he should win the job. He needs to show the coaches he can get through camp healthy, because injuries have been a knock against him. Rookie Torain will be one of the more interesting players in camp, because he is a tough inside runner who can finally show what he can do with pads on against pro competition.
