Game Plan and Matchups v. Chiefs

Check out the Denver Broncos Game Plan and the key matchups against the Kansas City Chiefs.

GAME PLAN: The Broncos will load up the box and force the Chiefs to pass the ball. Damon Huard gives Kansas City a better chance to move the ball in the air, and pass defense has been a weakness for Denver, but the Broncos will probably be willing to take the chance rather than giving Larry Johnson running lanes.

Offensively, the Broncos should be able to do whatever they wish. Kansas City has been poor against the run and the pass so far this season. Denver could try to establish the running game, just to add some more balance to the offense.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Broncos DE Elvis Dumervil vs. Chiefs LT Branden Albert. Dumervil hasn't been himself the past few weeks because he is playing with a cast on his hand. He has a broken pinkie finger. But Dumervil has the ability to have a huge day. Albert is a rookie, and last week against Atlanta he gave up one of John Abraham's two sacks.

Broncos WR Brandon Marshall vs. Chiefs CBs Brandon Flowers and Brandon Carr. Marshall will get a lot of targets against the Chiefs' rookie cornerback duo. The matchup seems set for him to have a huge day. If Kansas City schemes to take him out of the game, someone like Eddie Royal or Brandon Stokley could have a good game.

INJURY IMPACT: DT Josh Shaw has a groin injury. He has been ruled out for this week's game and could miss a couple more weeks. DT Dewayne Robertson was held out of practice Wednesday because of his balky knee. If he returns to practice later this week, he should be fine to play Sunday.

WR Darrell Jackson missed practice again with a calf injury. He hasn't practiced since before Denver's second game, and could be in danger of missing another game.
