Game Plan and Matchups v. Jaguars

Check out the Denver Broncos Game Plan and the key matchups against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

GAME PLAN: The Jaguars will try to run the ball and the Broncos will try to pass. Neither team will be one-dimensional. David Garrard is a competent quarterback for Jacksonville and Denver can run the ball. But they will play to their strengths. And in Denver's case, passing the ball attacks the weakness of the Jaguars' defense, which is against the pass. Denver looked better against the run last week against Tampa Bay, but they allowed more than 100 yards and are only two weeks removed from allowing 198 yards to Kansas City running back Larry Johnson. Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew should each get plenty of carries.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Broncos CB Champ Bailey vs. Jacksonville WR Matt Jones. Jones is Jacksonville's top receiver, and if Mike Walker is out with a knee injury, he's the only wideout with more than 100 yards this season. If Bailey can take Jones out of the game, it limits Jacksonville's options in the passing game.

Broncos offensive line vs. Jaguars pass rush. Jacksonville has not been very good rushing the quarterback, with no player recording even two sacks so far this season. But they do have talent, as does Denver's offensive line. The line has played very well this season, and if they protect QB Jay Cutler well, Denver could have a big day passing the ball.

INJURY IMPACT:

--RB Ryan Torain could return to practice next week and play after Denver's Week 8 bye. He suffered an elbow injury in training camp.
--TE Tony Scheffler is out this week with a groin injury but could return for the team's Nov. 20 game against New England.
--RB Selvin Young could return for Denver's Nov. 20 game against New England. He is out this week with a groin injury.
--DE Ebenezer Ekuban has a groin injury that kept him out of practice Wednesday, but the team thinks he'll be available to play this week.
--WR Eddie Royal could play this week despite a bone bruise on his ankle. Broncos coach Mike Shanahan expressed confidence that Royal would be ready to play.
