Player of the Week Report

Check out the Player of the Week, the Battle of the week and the Rookie of the Week for week two of the Denver Broncos Training Camp.

BATTLE OF THE WEEK: Elvis Dumervil vs. Robert Ayers vs. Darrell Reid vs. Tim Crowder for the OLB positions. The four players have all seen at least a little bit of time with the starting defense. Reid and Crowder have battled on the left side and Dumervil and Ayers have been on the right side, although the Broncos could flip someone to the other side to get their best players on the field. All four have their own strengths, and will contribute in certain situations, but only two can begin the season as starters in the base defense.

OTHER BATTLE FRONTS: CB Jack Williams is having a solid camp and hasn't given up the nickel cornerback job to second-round pick Alphonso Smith. But Smith has done well too, showing off his ball-hawking skills during practice.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: WR Brandon Stokley - When Jabar Gaffney signed this offseason, it pushed Stokley to fourth on the depth chart behind starters Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal and Gaffney. But Stokley is having a very good camp, and was one of the stars of Denver's scrimmage at Invesco Field last Thursday. He has caught everything thrown his way, has a good rapport with Kyle Orton and coach Josh McDaniels said Stokley will have a "great role" for the Broncos. He should continue his role in the slot and as a major weapon on third downs.

ROOKIE REPORT: RB Knowshon Moreno missed 12 full-squad practices before ending his holdout. ... LB Robert Ayers ended a short holdout and has been working behind Elvis Dumervil at right outside linebacker. Ayers has been in with the starters in passing situations. He is almost exclusively playing linebacker. ... S David Bruton has impressed the coaches with his hard work and has been with the first-team defense as Brian Dawkins recovers from a hand injury. ... G Seth Olsen has played some with the first-team offense when Ben Hamilton slides to center on days Casey Wiegmann gets a practice off. ... S Darcel McBath has been running as the second-team free safety. ... WR Kenny McKinley is one of Denver's quickest players and will have a chance to shine in preseason games.

INJURY REPORT: S Brian Dawkins has a broken hand and should miss at least a couple of weeks.

--WR Brandon Marshall has a left leg injury and has missed a week. The injury wasn't believed to be serious, so consider him day-to-day.
