Schon: Broncos Live Game Notes vs. Seattle

Broncos Update columnist gives us all his game notes and observations throughout tonight's second preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. Check back often for all the latest updates...

Welcome back kids - it's Game Two in the Josh McDaniels era and there's more than a few of us anxious to see how Kyle Orton rebounds from last weeks disaster. Maybe more importantly is how McDaniels handles the situation if he continues to struggle...

It's less than 30 till kickoff - grab a cold one and get ready to shake it up... I'll be busting out all the madness of game notes and inside info at the end of each quarter - don't hurt yourself....

1st Quarter
What a shocker – no Marshall… the drama plays on – maybe he's home studying the playbook…(we can only hope)

Seahawks take the kick and Hasselbeck comes out firing – picks up a first on the second play of the game – Broncos secondary is giving up yardage – crossing patterns are looking easy. Hasselbeck's got all the time in the world to throw… they're into Denver territory and they keep piling it on. 3rd and six and Matt unloads it 34-yards to Deion Branch for the score… 70-yard drive and it's a quick 7-0 lead.

I'm making the call here – time to start drinking…

Orton fires back – beautiful strike to Eddie Royal with Cheese – down to the Seattle 33-yard line… – 26-yard pick up on 3rd and six. Orton's got em rolling - mixing in the run and Denver moves it near the 20 with a quick toss to Stokley for a first down. Buckhalter's inside the 15 – I'm actually impressed (about as impressed as you can be during preseason). First and goal from the 8 – quick shot to Gaffney at the 3 – out of the shotgun to Scheffler – makes the catch but his feet are out of bounds – Take to this time to Stokley and it's a Denver touchdown – Prater for the PAT and my blood pressure is still in line – that's a good sign…

Broncos "D" tightens it up – forces Seattle into a 3 and out and a punt from their own end zone… this is almost like Christmas. Broncos take possession at midfield.

Hillis is the MAN – breaks it open on a huge run but it's called back for clipping on Ryan Clady…forces second and 20 from the 49 – out of the shotgun to Graham brings up 3rd and 8… Here comes Prater from 53-yards out – It's in the bank – Denver grabs a 10-7 lead as the first quarter winds down. Two posessions – two scores and a nice defensive stop…

Seattle starts the drive short of the 20 – nice work on Special Teams… Hasselbeck's looking to get things moving – Clock winds down as Seattle pushes it out to the 33 – yard line… First and 10 and the action continues…

2nd Quarter
Seattle drive stalls short of midfield and the Broncos field it inside the ten. They're playing it safe – quick toss to Gaffney picks up seven and it's 3rd and 3… Incomplete to Chad Jackson brings out Brett Kern to punt from just outside the goal line – 48-yard kick and the Seahawks take it just shy of the 50.

Broncos D is rocking it – another sack on Hasselbeck – maybe Mickey D does have a handle on this… Broncos ball on their own 12…

Nice strike to Gaffney picks up a first at the 27 – Gaffney again at the 39 and another first… 1st and ten at the 40 – play action to midfield. Across the middle to Stokley comes up a little short – Broncos burn a time out – Orton comes to the sideline…Hillis to the rescue – picks up the first – this guy's a rock…love the stiff arm

Inside the 35 and the Broncos get flagged for too much time… Hillis moves it down to the 16 and everything seems to be rolling for the 5280. Out route to Royal down to the 4 – on the grond to Jordan and it's down to the 1-yard line… Orton to Gaffney – toss is high and goes through Gaffney's hands – 3rd and goal – back to Gaffney and it's incomplete – McD goes for it on 4th – Orton pulls a Plummer – lame a## to with his left hand is picked in the end zone – Seahawks take possession on the twenty… absolute bonehead play… confidence just took a major drop – back to drinking at the two-minute warning.

Hasselbeck's moving it – it's the two-minute drill and the Broncos are folding up… Seattle crosses midfield – they keep it moving – Hasselbeck to TJ but overthrows him.. Dumps it to Forstett and it's first and goal from the 2… Quick toss to TJ Houshmandzadeh (I hate typing this dude's name….) and Broncos close out the first trailing 14-10… I'm pretty sure I need to continue drinking...

3rd Quarter
Oh oh…. Here it comes – meltdown in the second half – Seattle traps Denver deep thanks to a holding penalty on Putzier… drive goes nowhere and the Broncos are forced to punt deep… kick is jacked – seems to be a ton of miscommunication and poor play …

Seattle takes advantage of the Broncos screw up – Marcus Thomas is down on the field… this isn't good – Seahawks rebound with another TD and it looks like there's plenty of work to be done next week in practice… Thomas' injury doesn't seem to be 2 bad… upper body injury…. whatever that means.

Three and out – and Seattle decides to capitalize… We're gonna see how this plays out – Seahawks take advantage of great field position and seemingly walk through thanks to a Broncos fumble from Tony Scheffler and take possession just outside the 10. Broncos are facing a 17-10 deficit and my spleen is starting to hurt.

Mistakes….mistakes….mistakes….. Seattle is rolling with it – 17 consecutive points 24-10 with just under nine in the third… Simms takes the field – doesn't really matter – Broncos are imploding as we speak.

This is embarrassing… Hawks score a field goal and extend the lead 27-10 as the third comes to a close….

4th Quarter

It all unravels…. Simms gets rolled up on – and it's Brnadstater behind center…. Suffice to say there's a mountain of work to be done before the season opener. Yea…. Ok, I know, this is preseason and although you can put too much emphasis on anything it's increasingly obvious… the Broncos are in rebuilding mode… game, set… match. It's gonna be a long year….Seahawks take it 27-13…. br>
Let's face it…there is absolutely no way the Broncos are gonna shake the brutal schedule, find a way to work Brandon Marshall back into the mix and give the fans all they're expecting.. Maybe we should just roll with it and find a way to incorporate the ipod play list into actual game situations, at least have a little fun in the meantime……
