Schon: Live Game Notes Broncos - Browns

You gotta love watching one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the game, skydive onto the 50 wearing designer shades…

Welcome back kids – it's Broncos – Browns – Opening Day in Denver. Nice crowd, pretty amped after last week's miracle. You gotta love watching one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the game, skydive onto the 50 wearing designer shades…

Kickoff is set – grab a cold one – grab a hot one – just make sure you grab something – lets shake it up… Make sure to refresh for all the latest madness .

1st Quarter
Encouraging start for Denver – Peyton Hillis fumbles the kick and the Browns take it at the Broncos 22-yard line… let's see what Quinn's got.

"D" is playing it tight but Quinn's got a short field and moves it down to the six but they can't push it in – 42-yards out and they slam a quick 3. Broncos take the kick Part Two…

Orton comes out firing – hits Gaffney on a nice 25-yard pick up – straight downhill from there…some of the worst passes and route runs I've ever seen. I swear I was closer to the last pass than Brandon Marshall was… this is gonna be a long day… Browns will start it on their own 12.

Brian Dawkins is an animal – breaks Cribbs in half to bust up a BQ pass – two plays later the gods of football smile and Darrel Reid snags a fumble from center – Broncos got a short field at the Browns nine – still not holding my breath…McD's burned two time outs here in the first – amazing. Orton moves it to the 2 – this is where he works best – hits Sheffler on the cross and Denver puts a quick 7 on the board.

You ever have a hangover just creep up on you?

Quinn's got them moving – close to midfield now. Quinn to Edwards picks up a nice 20 and the Browns are down to the Denver 34. Drive stalls at the 29 – Dawson splits the uprights and the Browns cut Denver's lead 7-6 with a buck fifty left in the quarter.

2nd Quarter
It's the Orton to Stokley connection that pulls it out again – huge 37-yard gain off the scramble… another shot to Stokley puts it at the five – first and goal to go… Here comes McD -burns another time out – doesn't seem to help. Broncos bust out three lame plays in a row – Prater comes in to save it 10-6 with just over 11 in the half.

It's the Orton to Stokley connection that may pull it out again – huge 37-yard gain on the run…another shot to Stokley puts it at the five – first and goal to go… McD burns another time out – doesn't seem to help. Broncos bust out three lame plays in a row – Prater comes in to save it 10-6 with just over 11 in the half.

Entire balance of the quarter is spent watching two teams battle to reach mediocrity… Broncos are out of time outs – Browns can't pull it together and with under 2:00 to go Denver is battling to get into field goal range.

Prater gets his shot - wide right tank job... fans are letting them have it - can you blame them? - half comes to a close under a chorus of boos...

3rd Quarter
I'll be anxious to see this defense when they play the big guys – can't really tell if they're really improved or if Cincy and Cleveland just make it seem that way. Dumervile forces a Cribbs fumble and it's Orton and Co. back to dance. Keep in mind - we're one touchdown away from free tacos tomorrow...

Six plays, 18-yards and we're still one touchdown away from tacos – Prater redeems himself from 38 and the Broncos extend their lead 13-6. Not really a case of the offense being that bad – it's more of a case of the offense just not being that good… thank god for the NFL schedule makers – Cincy, Cleveland and Oaktown may turn out to be a blessing.

It's actually getting comical at this point – three and out for Cleveland and Orton's gunning it again – dinking and dunking his way to midfield. Marshal's been pretty out of it but does grab a nice 25-yarder that moves Denver to the Browns 28. The excitement's building now - four plays later Prater shanks it left and I'm laughing so hard I'm crying.

Somewhere there's a Browns fan laughing too – quarter comes to a close with Denver holding an amazing 13-6 lead…

4th Quarter
My new motto - Never underestimate the power of Orton… especially against a really bad team – short toss to Gaffney turns into a huge 47-yard gain and cements it at the two. Here comes Hillis – redemption is sweet – no fumble and powers his way for six – Prater even hits the PAT – apparently it's a new era in Broncos football (at least for today). Broncos resting on a comfy 20-6 lead as Quinn and Co. try to get something together.

BTW - we made it to Free Tacos...

I can hardly contain myself – Broncos are blowing it up – Buckhalter breaks the big one – 45-yards for the score… Three plays, 67-yards and if you look close you can actually see fans that are smiling… Holding a 27-6 lead usually does that. Better get those playoff tickets early…

Has the "D" improved? Elvis Dumervil bust it with 4 sacks for the day…ties the franchise record – yea, I would say so…

This one's in the books – headed to the Locker Room now – this should be fun…
