Harrison decides on Patriots

In a surprising twist, San Diego safety Rodney Harrison has decided to sign with the New England Patriots. The move came just one day after he had said he was going to decide between Denver and Oakland.

Wednesday, March 12, 2003 - If Denver's Brian Griese became available, he would likely top the Ravens' quarterback free-agent list. At this point, the feeling is not mutual. Ralph Cindrich, the agent for Griese, said yesterday that his client would not consider the Ravens under their current asking price for a starting quarterback. The team recently offered a three-year deal worth between $1.5 million to $2 million a season to Jeff Blake, who is also represented by Cindrich.

Both sides reported progress Tuesday evening, and talks are scheduled to resume this morning. Walker had hoped to have a deal completed by nightfall, but too many issues remained to be resolved.
