Notable pregame, well, notes
Don Delco on November 14th, 2010 AT 11:35 AM

•The Browns haven’t scored 30 or more points in three consecutive games since 1968, when they scored at least 30 in seven consecutive games.

•Cleveland has only scored four or more rushing touchdowns in back-to-back games twice in club’s NFL history. The Browns posted consecutive games of four and six rushing touchdowns in 1954 and registered four and five in back-to-back games in 1951.

•The last time the Browns rushed for 230 or more yards in consecutive games was 1965, when they racked up 239 at Philadelphia and followed with 232 against Pittsburgh.

•The Browns haven’t recorded 400 total yards in back-to-back games since 1995, when they registered 416 at San Diego and 436 at Minnesota the following week.

•With the Browns’ 34-14 victory over the Patriots last Sunday, the Browns improved to 8-1 against the AFC East since 2005, including six consecutive victories.

•Browns punter Reggie Hodges leas the lead with 10 punts inside the 10-yard line this season.

•The Browns special teams coverage units rank among the league’s best this season. Opponents are averaging an NFL-low 16.7 yards per kickoff return and 3.5 yards per punt return, which is second best in the league.

•The Browns are 12-7 against the Jets in the regular season and 8-5 when the game is played in beautiful Cleveland, Ohio.

•At halftime, the Browns will induct former offensive linemen Cody Risien (1979-83, 85-89) and John Wooten (1959-67) into the Cleveland Brown Legends.

Browns Now 200-1 Super Bowl Shots
Barry McBride on November 13th, 2010 AT 7:51 PM

Hey, it’s better than 500-1, where it was last week. The Browns are currently ahead of the Bills (2000-1), Lions (300-1) and Jaguars (250-1) as well as one-time perennial contenders, Broncos (500-1), Bengals (400-1) and Cowboys (500-1). Snicker.

Also, the over/under for Jets rushing and passing yards against the Browns this week is 345.

Per Bodog.com.

For the record, Colin Cowherd predicted the Browns/Jets game on his Locks of the Week segment and said that the Jets would crush the Browns. I think he predicted 38-14, or something along those lines.

In other news, I actually found myself listening to Colin Cowherd for a few minutes this week. Weird.

Understandably (for now) no top-selling Browns jerseys
Don Delco on November 13th, 2010 AT 7:35 AM

Darren Rovell of CNBC came out with the list of the top 25 jersey sellers from April 1-Oct. 31, 2010. There is not a single Browns player in the top 25. That’s understandable. When the season began, which player really resonated with the fans?

Not any longer. First, Peyton Hillis has become a star not only in Cleveland, but throughout the NFL with his running style on the field and humble personality off the field. In addition, after three starts by rookie quarterback Colt McCoy, he is also turning heads. Of the top 25, three jerseys are running backs and 12 are quarterbacks. No. 1? Yeah, the Broncos’ Tim Tebow. Go figure.

Now, with the holiday season coming up, it’s time to get shopping.

If the following is any indication, Hilis may crack that top 25. Earlier this week, I received a text from the blog Waiting For Next Year. They wanted me to find out from Hillis if he is going to continue to wear No. 40. See, in Denver he wore No. 22, but when he arrived in Cleveland that number was reserved to Brandon McDonald. According to the guys at Waiting For Next Year, fans want to buy the Hillis jersey for a Christmas present, but they were concerned Hillis would switch back to No. 22 in the offseason.

No worries. Hillis is sticking with No. 40.

Today is as good as any to start your Christmas shopping.
