@CoraxSays I think most Browns fans agree. Like Fred Greetham said on our radio show, Delhomme should have been put on the shelf last month.

@reverendvargo It does need to be discussed. Putting a fresh spin on it and not just reveling in the anger is the challenge for the media.

Browns-Bills Post-Game Notes
Barry McBride on December 12th, 2010 AT 5:30 PM

·         Running back Peyton Hillis totaled 108 rushing yards on 21 carries and added four receptions for 10 yards. His five 100 yard performances this year are the most by a Brown since Jamal Lewis recorded six in 2007.

·         On the fourth play of the game, Hillis picked up an eight yard rush to put him over 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Now with 1,070 on the season, Hillis became the ninth Brown to rush for 1,000 yards in a single-season. He joined Jim Brown (seven times). Mike Pruitt (four times), Leroy Kelly (three times), Greg Pruitt (three times), Jamal Lewis (twice), Kevin Mack, Earnest Byner and Reuben Droughns as the only players to accomplish the feat. Hillis is the first Brown to reach the 1,000 yard rushing mark since Jamal Lewis rushed for 1,002 in 2008.

·         Hillis became the second-fastest Brown to reach the 1,000 yard rushing plateau since the league went to a 16 game schedule in 1978.

BROWNS – FEWEST GAMES TO REACH 1,000  RUSHING YARDS IN A SEASON SINCE 1978

Player                         Year           Games

1.   Reuben Droughns       2005           12

2.   Peyton Hillis              2010           13

3.   Mike Pruitt                  1979           14

Mike Pruitt                  1981           14

Kevin Mack                1985           14

Jamal Lewis                2007           14

·         Hillis is the only player in Browns history to rush for 1,000 or more yards, record 50 or more receptions and score at least 10 total touchdowns in a single-season. Also, he joins Mike Pruitt (1980 and 1981) as the only Browns players to rush for more than 1,000 yards and record at least 50 receptions in a single-season. Hillis has notched a team-leading 57 receptions this season.

·         Linebacker Marcus Benard recorded a sack to increase his team-leading total to 7.5 on the season. He has 11 sacks in 18 career games.

·         The Browns were called for a season-low two penalties today and have registered just 31 in their last eight contests (3.9 average).

·         Cleveland has shut out its opponent in the first quarter of each of the last two games as the Browns have allowed just 26 first quarter points all season. Over the last seven games, Cleveland has outscored its opponents 47-13 in the opening frame.

·         Since Week 7, the Browns have registered 19 total takeaways, including one fumble recovery today. Entering this weekend’s games, the Browns were tied for the most in the NFL in that span with 18.

·         Linebacker Chris Gocong recorded a career high 10 tackles, including one sack and a forced fumble. He has a team-leading three forced fumbles on the season.

·         Kicker Phil Dawson converted field goals of 19 and 25 yards today and now has had two or more field goals in six of the last seven games.

·         Defensive lineman Ahtyba Rubin tied a career-best with nine tackles, a figure he first achieved on November 14 of this year against the Jets.

·         Defensive back Sheldon Brown has appeared in all 141 regular season games in his career, which began with Philadelphia in 2002. His streak is the second-longest among all active defensive backs, trailing only Tampa Bay’s Ronde Barber.

·         Offensive lineman Joe Thomas has started all 61 career games at left tackle and has not missed an offensive snap since joining the Browns as the third overall pick in the 2007 draft.

·         Punter Reggie Hodges registered a 39.5 net average today on four punts with two inside the 20 yard line and no touchbacks. Over the last eight games, he has totaled 17 punts inside the 20 and no touchbacks. His last touchback was in Week 5 on October 10 against Atlanta.

I blame Delco. Most people do. RT @DiamondHoggers You’re bad people. You’re part of the reason the Browns suck :-)

12/12
3:43 PM

@Three3Yooo It’s tough to say that this game would doom Mangini if they come back strong the next three weeks. Doesn’t help him, for sure.

12/12
3:42 PM

THe Browns have gotten 187 yards (82 passing) against one of the league’s worst run defenses. That’s 131 yards after the initial drive.

@madden_joe The anger on the ol’ OBR Twitterline is aimed far more at Daboll and Delhomme.

Lots of calls on the OBR’s Twitter feed for Delhomme to exit after that turnover. Mangini is typically unmoved by public opinion.

From the Snow Dome Chronicles
Dave Kolonich on December 12th, 2010 AT 10:01 AM

Here's further evidence of why NFL games should always be played in outdoor stadiums….

NY Daily News – Roof of Metrodome Collapses

"…According to reports out of Minneapolis, the Teflon-coated fiberglass roof on what is now known as Mall of America Field, collapsed overnight under the weight of 17-plus inches of snow. The damage has left "several tears" in the roof and snow on the field."

Or just imagine if the likes of Buffalo, Cleveland or Chicago played in a dome….in mid-December, or beyond when the league adds two extra games starting next year.

And while this is further evidence that the Vikings desperately need a new stadium – at least if they are going to remain in Minnesota – it's also proof that the football Gods long ago dictated that the game shall remain outdoors.
