Browns Release Two Additional Players has learned that the Cleveland Browns have dropped two more of the undrafted free agents picked up following the NFL draft. Both are from small colleges and had promise, but the odds remain long for undrafted rookies... has learned that the Cleveland Browns have released undrafted free agents Robert Branch and Randy Bell.

Branch was an intriguing signing by the team in April. A defensive tackle out of tiny Stillman College, Branch left after dominating small college games for two years to try his luck at playing in the NFL. Although Branch's potential undoubtedly intrigued the team, he faced a gigantic hurdle in jumping from being a small college sophomore to winning a spot on an NFL defensive line deep with well-compensated talent.

Another small school player, Randy Bell, had an even tougher challenge. After signing with the team as an undrafted free agent, the Browns learned that Lee Suggs would return earlier than expected and then signed running backs Jamel White and James Jackson to contract extensions. While Bell could contribute in multiple ways as a back and returner, White's four-year extension spelled trouble for the speedy Carson-Newman running back.
