Browns trade up to No. 3

Heckert pulls the trigger to move the team into pick No. 3

BEREA, Ohio—The Browns made one of the most dramatic moves just before the draft started when they sent three picks (4th, 5th and 7th) to the Vikings to move up one spot from number four to number three to presumably draft Alabama running back Trent Richardson.

The Browns feared that another team was trying to trade ahead of them to get Richardson and they decided to not let what happened last month when the Redskins moved to number two to select Robert Griffin III.

The Browns haven't announced their selection at three but a report at the NFL Draft headquarters at Radio City Hall in New York said a Richardson jersey was spotted under the Browns table.

Even after the trade, the Browns still have 10 picks. They started with 13, but still have their picks in the first round (3 and 22), second round (37), third round (67), fourth round (100), fifth round (160), sixth round (204 and 205) and seventh round (245 and 247).

They gave up 118 (obtained in the Julio Jones trade), 139 and 160 (obtained in Brady Quinn trade).
