At that time, however, there was no hard and fast proof of exactly how far his rehabilitation had progressed and whether he was actually ahead of the typical nine-month timeline for ACLs. Mauti attended the NFL Combine in February, but only bench-pressed (an impressive 28 reps), interviewed and went through medical tests.
He did not work out at PSU's Pro Day in March, either.
But now, a video has surfaced of Mauti going through intense workouts — and putting serious stress on his right knee — at the XCEL Sports Performance Training Center in his native Louisiana.
You can see the video, which includes Mauti running, working on balance and lifting weights, at the link below.
The workout took place Friday morning. And in an interesting twist, Mauti himself edited the video and posted it online later in the day.
"Had to show the NFL I'm not all talk about making a comeback," he said in a text to FOS. "Feeling great, man."
The NFL Draft takes place April 25-27 in New York. Mauti was considered a likely first- or second-round pick before the injury.
