No snappy opening. Gotta get my hand in the dirt.
We've got the sixth pick in the Draft... Whoopee. That means we sucked, last year.
Now, we have an owner which could face significant legal action against him, a CEO that makes many nauseous, and a "personel adviser" that most folks enjoy even less.
New head coach, (and I mean "new.") A flame out head coach, as our offensive coordinator, (but has always been a sharp O.C.,) and an Arizona Cardinals cast-off for a defensive coordinator, (although, the Card's defense was not really one of their many problems.)
All that said... it's Draft time, kids. More than ever, the First Round is critical. Sixth pick. We can stick, or trade down with, (hopefully,) a sucker, instead ending up as such.
Lombardi is a bigger influence in this office, than many of you are voluntarily or intelligently willing to admit. He didn't leave a cushy job at the NFL Network to become a puppet in this virginal front office. He's got experience, (good or bad,) and he parlayed his extensive resume into being a decision maker for this team. He's going to at least have as much say-so in the War Room as Chud and Norv.
Lombardi loves DE/OLB's, so we're going to stick at the #6 spot, and take Dion Jordan, (if he's still there,) or we'll draft Jarvis Jones.
Best case scenario? Trade down to the #11 spot with the Chargers, (ala Norv Turner influence,) and take OLB Jarvis Jones. (Enough the silly "spinal stenosis" yak. We don't take him, and he slips, he'll be kicking our butts for years to come, ala Pittsburgh, with the #17 pick.)
Then, in the second round, try to secure TE Zach Ertz. TE Eifert is good, but not to the point we dish out a #6 slot for him. Additionally, if we happen to not get Ertz in the second, big deal? I'll happily take Cincinnati Bearcat TE Travis Kelce with our fourth.
Otherwise, stay the course, take OLB Dion Jordan at the sixth... and so we move on...
And At 6
