BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Suspended Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon says he does not have a drug problem and believes his case is affecting the possibility the NFL will change its drug policy.
Gordon, who was recently banned for the entire season, did an extensive interview with ondecker.com (http://bit.ly/1uwFyp1). The Pro Bowler maintains he failed a drug test for marijuana because he was exposed to secondhand smoke. Before his positive test, Gordon said he was clean and had passed 70 tests.
In the interview, Gordon said he was "heartbroken" when he got suspended and "it was definitely a dark period of time for me." He acknowledged checking into rehab following a drunken driving arrest in July. He said the clinic diagnosed that he "wasn't addicted to anything."
Several of Gordon's teammates are holding out hope he'll be reinstated or have his suspension reduced.
Gordon has not spoken to Browns media members since April.
