AFC North Picture: With the Steelers on bye at 7-4, the Browns are tied with Pittsburgh just a half game behind the Bengals at 7-3-1. The Ravens are 6-4 and will play on Monday Night Football against the Saints. Next week, the Browns are scheduled to play the Bills in Buffalo, but there is a chance the NFL will move the site of the game due to the snowstorm.
Hoyer Finishes: QB Brian Hoyer bounced back from throwing two late interceptions that almost caught the Browns the win to lead the Browns to a game-winning field goal drive in the waning seconds.
Hoyer was 4-of-6 for 61 yards on the final drive that allowed K Billy Cundiff to kick a 37-yard field goal as time expired to give the Browns a 26-24 win. Hoyer finished 23-of-40 for 322 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.
The Crow: RB Isaiah Crowell started for the second-straight week and rushed for 88 yards on 12 carries, including two touchdowns. Crowell averaged 7.7 yards per carry and he had a 26-yard touchdown.
Fellow rookie RB Terrance West rushed 14 times for 62 yards and caught a pass for nine yards. The Browns rushed for 162 yards, after a bad game rushing a week ago.
The Gordon Effect: WR Josh Gordon had eight catches for 120 yards, including a 24-yard reception on the game-winning drive in his first game back. However, his presence opened up the game for the other receivers as WR Miles Austin caught six pass for 64 yards, including two catches for 22 yards on the final drive.
Big Blow: S Tashaun Gipson went down in the third quarter after he collided with DB Joe Haden. Gipson was on the field for some time before being carted to the locker room. Gipson did not return. The injury was a big blow as Gipson was leading the NFL in interceptions with six.
Joe’s Pick: DB Joe Haden made his second interception of the season after going up and catching the ball thrown to WR Julio Jones from QB Matt Ryan. The Browns were able to get a field goal after the turnover.
Billy be the Hero: K Billy Cundiff kicked four field goals, including the game-winning 37 yard attempt as the clock expired. His only miss was a 60-yard attempt at the end of the first half, which was short.
Easy Day: P Spencer Lanning had just one punt on the day for 29 yards.
Sheard Back: LB Jabaal Sheard was active after injuring his ankle against the Texans a week ago. The Browns were worried that Sheard might be lost for the season and was able to play. He had an offside penalty early that allowed the Falcons to pick up a first down. Sheard finished with one tackle.
