In an expected move, the NFL Players Association has filed a grievance on Gordon’s behalf over the Browns suspending him for the 2015 season finale. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported today that the grievance has now officially been filed.
Gordon was suspended for the Browns final regular season game of 2014 and it cost him a full season toward free agency. If Gordon wins the grievance hearing, he will become a free agent after the 2016 season—assuming he stays clean and returns to the field in 2016.
If he doesn’t win the grievance, Gordon wouldn’t become a free agent until after the 2017 season.
