The Browns search for a replacement for Buster Skrine continues apace this morning with word that the Browns are interested in talking to ex-Patriots CB Brandon Browner.

Browner is actually visiting New Orleans today, as that team searches for another cornerback. According to Pro Football Talk, the Redskins, Ravens and Jaguars are also interested in Browner.

Browner, 30, actually got his start in the CFL, playing four seasons for the Calgary Stampeders before being signed by Seattle in 2011. The corner leapt to the New England Patriots in 2014, but the team decided not to pick up the next year of his contract, judging him not worth the $2 million roster bonus he would have earned.

Browner will not confused with Darrelle Revis. ProFootballFocus.com rates him as the 79th best cornerback in the NFL who played 25% of snaps or more. For reference purposes, Buster Skrine ranks 82nd in the same list.

No visits for Browner have been scheduled past today’s stop in New Orleans.

Initial reception to Browner’s possibility as a Browns cornerback signing was slightly muted in the Watercooler this morning.
