Report: Braylon Edwards arrested
Ex-Browns top pick pulled over for DUI in Scottsdale, Arizona
Bring up Braylon Edwards, and Browns fans can still provide a lot of different reactions. There are those who feel he was a wasted draft choice, and those who fondly remember his contributions in an unexpected 2007 season, and those who recall his work sending kids to college. Like another pass-catching target during his stay in Cleveland, Kellen Winslow Jr., Edwards cut a divisive figure in Cleveland.
After that terrific 2007 season, Edwards career wound its way down, as he was traded from the Browns and finished up his playing days with the Jets, Seahawks, and 49ers, and in 2012 quietly ended a once-promising career with 5,397 career yards on 349 receptions.
Unfortunately, the holder of several Browns season-records for his performance in 2007 found himself in the news again today. TMZ Sports, always enthusiastic about finding the seedy underbelly of professional sports, reported that Edwards was pulled over for a DUI in Scottsdale, Arizona last week. The various sordid details can be found here. This is the second time that Edwards has been pulled over for DUI.
One hopes that Edwards’ brushes with the law have had an impact that we won’t find ourselves reporting on similar incidents in the future.
In the meantime, let’s try to remember when he and Winslow spent one magical season convincing the world that Derek Anderson was a Pro Bowl quarterback…
